Has your business changed?

New tools, a hire, another van, or a bigger job — that’s when the paper stops matching the work. Tap the one that fits.

New Tools

GL does not cover the saws, meters, or mowers in the truck. Tools riding in a utility truck are a Farmers commercial auto conversation — not “I already have liability.” If they live at the shop, that’s a Farmers BOP / business-property question. Book this week. We’ll review which Farmers coverages apply to what you added, and what we can place.

New Employees

A helper on the truck is an employee for CSLB. If the class requires workers’ comp, coverage has to stay continuous — a lapse will automatically suspend the license, and work while suspended is unlicensed. The board needs the certificate with CSLB as certificate holder. C-20 HVAC already needs WC even if you work alone; other classes that still have a no-employee exemption lose it the day someone is on payroll. Personal liability on a homeowners policy does not cover the contracting business. Book this week. We’ll review which Farmers coverages apply — including Farmers workers’ comp — and what we can place, plus the filing path from an in-force policy.

More Vehicles

Personal auto does not cover the work van. A second truck, a trailer, or a plumber’s utility truck is Farmers commercial auto — and it usually has to show up on the COI the GC asked for. If the new vehicle isn’t on the policy, it isn’t on the certificate. Book this week. Bring what’s registered to the business. We’ll review which Farmers coverages apply, and what we can place. No “add it to the homeowners policy” shortcut.

Larger Jobs

Bigger jobs mean tighter bid packets. The liability GCs ask for is Farmers general liability — that’s the standard liability coverage on a Farmers business policy. Extra limit is a Farmers umbrella conversation. A Farmers BOP packages liability with business property when that fit is right. GCs still typically want additional insured, completed ops, and waiver language on the certificate — a job gate, not a CSLB form (unless you’re an LLC). Last year’s COI often fails the new packet. Bring the PDF. We’ll review which Farmers coverages apply, and what we can place. If you’re starting from zero, we book the bind path. No COI without an in-force policy.
